Women & Girls

Case Study Information

Since August 2021, Afghan women and girls have faced systematic exclusion from public life  banned from secondary and higher education, restricted from employment, and denied access to many basic services. The scale of this exclusion is without modern precedent.

ORCD works  within the constraints of the current environment, and through trusted community networks built over 14 years  to reach women and girls with the support they need. Our women-led teams have access that external organisations do not.

Note on sensitivity: ORCD’s women’s programmes operate within complex political and cultural constraints. All activities are designed with community consent and cultural sensitivity. We do not publicise names or locations of protected spaces. Images used are from pre-2021 programmes or with full informed consent.
