Food Security & Livelihoods

Case Study Information

Afghanistan faces one of the worst food security crises in the world. The World Food Programme estimates that over 15 million Afghans face acute food insecurity  more than one third of the population. For families already weakened by conflict, displacement, and poverty, a failed harvest or a price shock can mean starvation.

ORCD addresses food insecurity at every level  emergency food distribution for families in crisis, cash assistance that lets communities decide what they need most, and agricultural support that builds long-term resilience. In partnership with WFP across all 34 provinces.
