Hundreds of thousands of Afghan children have lost one or both parents to conflict, disaster, or economic hardship. Without support, these children face hunger, interrupted education, and vulnerability to exploitation.
ORCD’s Orphan Sponsorship programme is different from many others. Children are placed with carefully selected, supported Afghan families, not in institutions. A child in a family is a child with a home. Your monthly sponsorship provides what that family needs to care for them properly.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: ‘I and the guardian of an orphan will be like these two in Paradise’, gesturing with his index and middle fingers. Caring for an orphan is one of the most beloved acts in Islam. Your £30 a month is that gesture.
Consistent, adequate food for the child and their caring family. The foundation everything else depends on.
School enrolment, uniform, books, and stationery. So school is not a luxury.
Medical consultations and medicines when needed. So illness does not become crisis.
A small stipend for the caring family. So looking after this child does not push their own family into hardship.
ORCD's field teams visit each sponsored child's household every quarter. Face to face.
A progress report on how the child is doing at school and how the family is managing. So you know your sponsorship matters.
Monthly sponsorship is the most powerful way to support a child. It provides predictable, sustained support allowing ORCD’s teams to plan ahead and deliver consistent care. Each sponsorship is recorded and reported on annually.

All sponsorship options are Sadaqah. Where the child is in genuine need with no income and no parental support, sponsorship may also be Zakat-eligible. ORCD UK will confirm eligibility on request.
